JetHawks Lose, 6-1, to San Bernardino
San Bernardino defeated Lancaster, 6-1, breaking open a close game with a three-run eighth inning Friday night before 3,309 at the Hangar.

Joel Ramirez will rejoin the JetHawks on Monday after a six-day stint with double-A New Haven, another Mariner farm club. Ramirez was promoted when the Mariners called up infielders to replace injured Alex Rodriguez and Carlos Guillen.

The JetHawks defeated San Bernardino, 2-1, in 13 innings Thursday night at the Hangar on Mike Marchiano’s hit into the left-field corner with one out to score Jermaine Clark from first base.
Marchiano, the JetHawks’ left fielder, had four hits, including three doubles. He leads the California League with a .567 batting average (17 for 30).

The apparent unassisted triple play Thursday by San Bernardino second baseman Brett Illig actually ended with shortstop Eric Riggs making the final two outs.

AROUND THE LEAGUES
Dave Schmidt of Granada Hills High and UCLA, who pitched 12 seasons in the major leagues, is the pitching coach for the Bowie Baysox (Orioles) of the Eastern League. Joe Ferguson, former Dodger catcher, is the Baysox manager.
Mike McMullen (Glendale College) pitched three scoreless innings and struck out two for triple-A Fresno (Giants) in a 9-2 victory over Iowa on Thursday.
