Harris Fuels the Rapids’ Rise, 2-1

Wolde Harris tied the score in regulation and then scored in the shootout Saturday night to help the Colorado Rapids to a 2-1 victory over the winless Kansas City Wizards at Denver.

Harris converted a penalty kick following a hand ball in the 69th minute to tie the score at 1-1.

San Jose 2, Washington 1--Raul Diaz Arce’s goal in the fifth shootout round gave the Clash a victory over D.C. United before 35,167, the largest crowd to watch a regular-season MLS game at Washington’s RFK Stadium.

Columbus 1, New England 0--New England player-coach Walter Zenga made a handful of brilliant saves in regulation but gave up four goals in the shootout as the Crew defeated the Revolution at Foxboro, Mass.

Three of New England’s four matches this season have been decided by a shootout.
