A ground-breaking ceremony was held Tuesday for Vista del Verde, an 843-acre community of homes surrounding a golf course. The event drew about 85 city officials, Chamber of Commerce members and representatives of developers Toll Brothers Inc. and Aera Energy. Construction on the property at Wabash Avenue and 3rd Street actually began last month, but rain postponed the official ceremony. The 18-hole golf course and residential community is scheduled to open in fall 2000.
