SAN CLEMENTE

A citizens group opposed to plans for the Marblehead coastal site will meet Tuesday to discuss new plans for the 250-acre development. The San Clemente Citizens for Responsible Development submitted a 5,100-signature petition to city officials in March in hopes of having a special election on the issue. But city officials rejected the petition because not all signature sheets had the proposed initiative attached. The group is opposed to plans approved by the city last year that include 434 homes, a movie theater and a retail complex. The group would like to see the number of homes reduced and a resort hotel and golf course developed as originally planned. The group will meet at 7 p.m. at St. Andrew’s By the Sea United Methodist Church. Information: (949) 366-3423.
