Highlight Reel: Finally, Detroit gets in Hebert’s face. Kirk Maltby shoots and Hebert turns it back, after which Maltby is blasted by Haller, who delivers a blow with his stick at about Maltby’s shoulders. Maltby had been set up in Hebert’s kitchen when Haller, trying to pass from behind his net, hit the tape on Maltby’s stick instead.

It’s Not in the Summary: The Red Wings get only that one free pass near the net because the Ducks have decided to create a No Man’s Land in front of Hebert--particularly Pavel Trnka, who is playing his best game of the series; Haller and Co.

Winning Number: Detroit is winning faceoff after faceoff, taking 26 of 44 through two periods, including two of the three with the Ducks on power plays. A power play is pretty useless without the puck.

Wrong Number: The Red Wings’ Mathieu Dandenault is about to make a solo dash down the ice with the puck when Marty McInnis decides the best way to stop the whole show is with his stick. Two minutes: slashing. It puts the Red Wings on the power play for the first time. They take quick advantage, getting the game’s first goal from Tomas Holmstrom only 24 seconds into the man advantage after Marshall and Matt Cullen can’t clear the puck.
