After a four-month investigation, sheriff’s deputies say they have arrested five male juveniles in connection with 17 residential burglaries, including a 15-year-old also suspected in a string of burglaries near Moorpark High School.

All of the Thousand Oaks burglaries occurred during the day near Sirius Street, authorities said.

Sheriff’s Det. Mark Gillette said one of the five teenagers lives in the Sirius Street neighborhood, as did another prior to his move to Las Vegas. Gillette said the other three boys live in Moorpark.

Investigators believe the teens, age 13 to 17, stole between $3,000 and $4,000 worth of cash, alcohol, jewelry, cameras and handguns. None of the five was involved in all 17 of the burglaries, Gillette said.

Gillette said the arrests were made after one of the youths tried three weeks ago to sell a camera stolen from a Thousand Oaks home. Last week deputies arrested the youth and a suspected 15-year-old accomplice on suspicion of burglarizing five Moorpark homes.
