The City Council on Tuesday approved a request to make the Alicia Town Center a “no skateboarding” zone. Representatives of Yacoel Properties, which owns the center, said skateboarders and in-line skaters often use its planters and other property amenities to double as ramps, jumps and sliding edges. That has proved a nuisance to shoppers, center officials said. Signs prohibiting skateboarding--and warning that first-time violators will face a $25 fine--now will be posted.
