A Sun Valley man was shot to death after a dispute over money, police said Thursday.

John Talavera, 26, was shot about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday outside a house in the 17000 block of Enadia Way, said Los Angeles Police Det. Jim Rahm of the Van Nuys Division.

He was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead half an hour later, Rahm said.

Officers arrested the alleged gunman, John Schuller, 26, of Van Nuys, shortly after the shooting, Rahm said.

Talavera and Schuller had been arguing over money and property that Schuller owed the victim, Rahm said.

Schuller left the area after the shooting but returned about 10 minutes later and was arrested, Rahm said.

Schuller and Talavera had apparently been friends before their relationship soured, Rahm said.
