Jewelry Mart Evacuated After Report of Fumes
LOS ANGELES —
The downtown Jewelry Mart was evacuated and five people were taken to hospitals for examination Monday afternoon after occupants reported noxious fumes in the building.
Firefighters using sophisticated sensing equipment said, however, that they found no fumes in the building at 607 S. Hill St.
Fire equipment clogging Hill Street snarled evening commuter traffic for about an hour.
