A 3-year-old boy nearly drowned Wednesday evening after falling into a spa at a Lake Forest apartment complex. When the baby-sitter found the boy submerged in the spa, she pulled him out and discovered him unconscious and not breathing, Capt. Scott Brown of the Orange County Fire Authority said. She then successfully performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him, Brown said. When fire officials arrived at the Mountain View Apartments, in the 22700 block of Lake Forest Road, they took the youngster to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo for treatment. Six children--five younger than 6 years--have drowned in Orange County in the last two months. Last year, seven children under 6 drowned in the county. Pool drownings are the leading cause of death for young children.
