Anaheim Hills Loses in Opener
Anaheim Hills West Little League’s road to Williamsport got longer Thursday night when it lost, 6-4, to Airport Little League of Sacramento in the second round of the Western Regional tournament in San Bernardino.
The defeat dropped Anaheim Hills, which had a first-round bye, into the losers’ bracket of the double-elimination tournament. The Southern California champions now must win six games in six days to reach the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. Their next game will be at 2 p.m. Saturday against Alaska or Utah.
Anaheim Hills erased a 3-0 deficit by scoring four runs in the fourth inning, capped by Andrew Smith’s solo home run.
But Airport tied it with an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth. The Northern California champions scored the decisive runs in the fifth, on an error and an RBI single by Marcus Taylor.
Joe Dickerson also homered for Anaheim Hills.
