Coalition Against Violence Receives Grant

* The Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence received a $5,000 grant from the Amgen Foundation. The funds will be used to continue programs and services offered by the nonprofit agency in Ventura County. The coalition operates a domestic violence response team, rape crisis center, shelter for women and children and the Westside Family Center.

Funding to Help Council Track Trends

* The Sustainability Council of Ventura County received a $22,000 partnership grant from the California Urban and Environmental and Education Center. The grant will be used to design quality of life indicators for the county. The “sustainability indicators” will track trends in areas such as housing, land use, transportation, employment, public health and water use.
