A man awaiting trial on charges of making methamphetamine in San Ramon showed up at court with an entire meth lab in his sport utility vehicle, authorities said.

Richard Gene Minnier, 29, parked his Toyota 4-Runner in the court’s main parking lot and was promptly arrested on an outstanding warrant on suspicion of making methamphetamine in a separate case, in Livermore.

Detectives discovered the chemicals, equipment and even some recently produced “wet meth” when they made arrangements to tow his car.

“That’s about as stupid as you can get,” Livermore Police Det. Jim Conley said.

Minnier, whose first trial begins Monday, said the drugs and equipment did not belong to him, but to a friend who wanted out of the business and asked for his help in disposing of the lab.

Methamphetamine is an illegal stimulant.
