Cleanup Planned at Stoney Point Park

About 100 volunteers will clean a portion of Stoney Point Park on Saturday.

City and community groups that often oversee neighborhood cleanups will remove trash and graffiti found on the rock formations at the park, said Joe Jackson, vice president of operations at New Directions for Youth, one of the participants.

The park’s boulders are popular with climbers and other visitors.

“It’s a long-needed project. I often drive by there and see [graffiti] tags a lot,” Jackson said. “By getting the community involved, there’s a sense of pride. Once you clean it up, it’s got to be maintained.”

The cleanup is from 8 a.m. to noon. For more information, call New Directions for Youth at (818) 375-1000.
