Slaying Victim Identified as Missing La Puente Resident, 67

The Orange County coroner’s office has identified the man whose body was discovered in a car in La Habra on Aug. 13 as Emilio Mendivel Gomez, 67, of La Puente.
Gomez had been shot and left in his car, a 1996 charcoal-gray Nissan pickup, on the 1300 block of West Imperial Highway.
He was reported missing by his family after he left home Aug. 8 around 11 a.m. to run an errand. He never returned.
Gomez’s intended destination was the K-Mart at Hacienda Boulevard and Valley Boulevard in the City of Industry, according to police.
La Habra police are seeking the public’s assistance with their investigation and have asked anyone who saw Gomez or his vehicle around the time of his murder to contact the department.
Gomez was 5-feet, 8-inches tall and 165 pounds. He had brown hair, brown eyes and a mustache.
At the time of his death he was wearing white pants and a T-shirt, a white painter’s cap and tennis shoes.
