Chow Time: Not Everyone’s Choice

Share

It is interesting that Michael Chow believes he has the right to pigeonhole me when I dine at Eurochow (“Top of the Food Chain,” by Carla Hall, July 18). Good food and service and a pleasant ambience apparently don’t matter in choosing a dining venue when one can be assigned one’s place by The Director.

Thanks, but I can decide for myself who I am. I’ll keep choosing restaurants that serve good food without the attitude, places that seat patrons in order of arrival and not in order of “importance.”

Just wondering--Mr. Chow is short, chubby and not very attractive. So exactly where would he seat himself in his own restaurants?

While the view from here at the bottom of the beauty-money-prestige-power food chain sometimes seems pretty grim, I can now take some comfort in knowing that those at the top actually pay to be design elements for Michael (call me Mister) Chow. Down at the Hometown Buffet we actually get to sit where we want and even go back for seconds if we need to.

At Eurochow for lunch last month, the service, food and attitude were horrendous--not only for us but for the two women sitting at the next table. They waited an hour and 10 minutes for a salad and sandwich, which were served without an apology. Our meal was a horrendous experience as well: stale bread, fish soaked in oil (you could see huge drops of it on the plate) and a cold dish that was supposed to have been served hot. Most important, the service was terrible and unprofessional, with a dismissive attitude to boot.

Chow was there that day, and we ultimately spoke to him about our experience. He was rude, arrogant and mean-spirited.

His expression on your cover photo says it all.
