The City Council recently voted to amend a local ordinance and include squirrels as wild animals not to be fed. The proliferation of squirrels has been determined by city staff to contribute to bluff erosion and increased health risks to residents and tourists. The cliff areas at Heisler Park have been damaged due to large number of squirrels burrowing into the ground. The council is expected to hear proposals for preservation of the park’s cliffs in September. Information: (949) 497-0329.
