16-Year-Old Girl Is Killed in Car Accident
A 16-year-old motorist died Wednesday from injuries she suffered in a car accident caused when she apparently failed to yield the right of way to another driver, authorities said.
The vehicle driven by Lauren Michelle Mann, 16, of Lancaster, was struck by a car about 10:50 p.m. Tuesday as she was driving south on 27th Street East, said Deputy Mark Dunkel of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Lauren apparently failed to yield for a stop sign at Lancaster Boulevard, Dunkel said.
She died at 12:03 a.m. Wednesday at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center.
The high rate of speed by the car that hit her also may have contributed to the accident, sheriff’s officials said.
It was driven by Patrick Marriott, 18, of Lancaster, who suffered minor injuries, as did his 17-year-old male passenger.
Both were treated and released from Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center.
