Santa Ana Teen Killed in Crash
A 17-year-old Santa Ana girl was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night when she was thrown from the sport utility vehicle she was riding in, police said.
Ruby Flores was a passenger in a 1995 Ford Bronco traveling north on Sand Canyon Drive in Irvine at 10 p.m. when a 1994 BMW 530i westbound on Alton Parkway broadsided the SUV, Irvine Police Sgt. Denny Jenner said. Flores, who was ejected from the vehicle, was taken to Irvine Medical Center, where she died from head trauma.
Police were still trying to determine Thursday if Flores was wearing a seat belt. The driver, Flores’ friend Ron Tellez, 21, also of Santa Ana, was not injured, officials said.
Two people in the BMW suffered minor injuries.
