TODAY-THURSDAY AT CLEVELAND

* Schedule: 4 p.m. today through Thursday.

* Television: KCAL, Tuesday and Thursday.

* Radio: KLAC (570) and XPRS (1090), all three games.

* Pitching matchups: Chuck Finley (8-11) vs. Dwight Gooden (3-3) today; Jarrod Washburn (0-2) vs. Dave Burba (11-7) Wednesday; Steve Sparks (5-10) vs. Charles Nagy (14-9) Thursday.

* Last series: The Indians won all three games in the last series earlier this month. Bartolo Colon shut out the Angels in the first game on seven hits and was still throwing in the high 90s in the ninth. The second game was a pitching matchup between Finley and former Angel Mark Langston, but neither got the victory, The Indians won, 2-1, in 10 innings with reliever Ricardo Rincon picking up the victory. Cleveland closed the series with a 4-3 victory.

* About the Indians: Cleveland has maintained its big lead in the AL Central. Right fielder Manny Ramirez continues to power the Indians on offense, and Roberto Alomar also has had a hot bat, though Alomar’s 35-game errorless streak at second base ended Sunday. Manager Mike Hargrove will activate Gooden to face the Angels tonight. Gooden has been on the disabled list since Aug. 3 with a sore right shoulder.

FRIDAY-MONDAY VS. NEW YORK

* Schedule: 7 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday, 5 p.m. Sunday and Monday.

* Television: Fox Sports West on Friday, Fox on Saturday, ESPN on Sunday, Fox Sports West on Monday.

* Radio: KLAC (570), XPRS (1090), all three games.

* Last series: The Angels ended a 22-inning scoreless streak with a home run by Troy Glaus in the eighth inning of the first game, but still lost, 4-1. They had only three hits in the second game, one of them a home run by Todd Greene, and lost, 6-2. The Angels ended their six-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory in the finale.

* About the Yankees: New York has maintained its comfortable lead over Boston in the AL East. First baseman Tino Martinez has been hitting well, with three home runs and 11 RBIs in a recent seven-day stretch. The Angels can expect to see Andy Pettitte (11-9) and David Cone (11-7) on the mound in the first two games of the series.
