City Manager Terry Matz is conferring with Orange County transportation officials about the possibility of using retired railroad tracks for an alternate CenterLine route. The initiative comes at the suggestion of Councilman David Shawver, who says that the light-rail project would benefit the city’s residents as well as the county by providing an alternative to driving. The proposal comes in the wake of Santa Ana’s objections to having the light-rail project in its city.
