Man Hospitalized After Jumping in Front of Train
A 32-year-old man who jumped in front of a Metrolink train in an apparent suicide attempt was clinging to life at County-USC Medical Center Monday night, Glendale police said.
The man was in grave condition, said Sgt. Rick Young.
“He was standing near the track and as train came near he threw his hands up in the air and stepped right onto the tracks,” Young said.
The man was struck by the northbound commuter train near San Fernando Road and West Broadway at about 7 p.m, Young said.
There were 186 passengers on the train, which was traveling 79 mph, and no one else was injured.
“At this time, pending further investigation, officers at the scene determined this was an attempted suicide,” Young said.
