A 20-year-old man who fled California after allegedly killing another man during a domestic dispute in Palmdale was being held in Arizona on Wednesday after surrendering to authorities there, officials said.

Thomas David Martinez of Palmdale turned himself in early Tuesday in Bullhead City and was being held without bail at the Mohave County Jail, said Mohave County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Johnson.

Martinez is wanted by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies in the Nov. 26 slaying of Basilio Eduardo Leon, 23, of Littlerock, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Det. Joe Purcell.

Leon was shot several times in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 1320 East Ave. Q during a dispute over Martinez’s ex-girlfriend, who was seeing Leon, the detective said.

Purcell said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s investigators are working with Arizona authorities to extradite Martinez to California, where he will face a murder charge. But he did not give a timetable for his return.
