Andre Larry banked in a jump shot over three defenders with 10 seconds remaining as Cal State Northridge stunned Oregon, 79-77, Saturday at Eugene, Ore.

Larry had 23 points and eight rebounds, while Markus Carr had 13 points--including a free throw with three seconds left-- for Northridge (4-2). Alex Scales led Oregon (3-2) with 23 points.

After Oregon’s Darius Wright missed a layup with five seconds to go, Carr was fouled by Scales. He missed his first attempt but swished the second. Frederick Jones then threw a half-court inbound pass that was knocked down and retrieved by the Matadors as time expired.

It was a triumphant return to Eugene for Larry, who left Oregon in 1997 after his sophomore season, and Matador Coach Bobby Braswell, who was an assistant at Oregon before taking over at Northridge four seasons ago.

Oregon was ahead, 41-40, at halftime, and never led by more than six points in the second half.

The game was tied 74-74 with 1:15 remaining when Brian Heinle fed Larry on an alley-oop dunk. But Scales, who had 18 of his points in the second half, responded with a three-point basket with 26 seconds left.

Larry made his game-deciding bank shot on Northridge’s next possession.
