The city may construct a cul-de-sac where two streets meet near Dana Point Harbor to reduce speeds in the area and address the concerns of residents who have grown fearful of the number of zooming motorists who move through their neighborhood.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the City Council will consider building a cul-de-sac at the western end of Santa Clara Avenue that would cut off access to Blue Lantern and likely reduce traffic in the area.

According to a city staff report, area residents are concerned about the number of speeding cars along Santa Clara. Several of them suggested capping the street with a cul-de-sac to stop the influx of traffic coming east from Blue Lantern.
