Blue Line Fare

* I am a little perplexed and disappointed with “Good Samaritan on the Blue Line,” by Phong Quoc Le (Voices, Dec. 4). This essay is an encouragement for Blue Line riders to cheat the system. Every rider should obey the Blue Line codes. The L.A. County sheriffs are responsible to protect all Blue Line passengers and to check for proof of fares. If a person does not have proof of fare, the fine is $250. This has nothing to do with nationality and/or economic status. All Blue Line riders come from different backgrounds. Obviously, the man who was questioned and escorted off the train did not have proof of fare.

I believe in helping another man. In the Bible, the good Samaritan helped an injured man to his feet. Passing a ticket to another man who does not have one is not considered being a good Samaritan. They are two different scenarios.
