Agent Resigns

Re “Border Patrol Agent Who Sank Raft Carrying People to Resign,” Dec. 14: Here is another story about the blatant disregard for human life and contempt for the law exhibited by one of the law’s own enforcers. This Border Patrol agent has admitted to this cowardly crime and his punishment is to lose his job.

Law enforcement agents commit heinous crimes against the innocent people they are sworn to protect and the law looks the other way when it is time to dole out justice. Losing your job as a punishment for attempted murder is sending the wrong message to our children. In order that our children learn that it’s wrong to do these things, even police and federal agents need to go to jail. Justice is supposed to be blind and have no one above it.
