NEW YEAR’S EVE EVENTS

In addition to numerous private parties and special events at hotels and restaurants, here are some of the New Year’s Eve events being planned in Orange County:

* Disneyland, Anaheim. The theme park will offer a number of bands, midnight fireworks, all its regular attractions and extended hours for its New Year’s fete. The ticket price will remain $39 for adults and $29 for children, although ticket sales may well shut down as the park reaches capacity. (714) 781-4565.

* Knott’s Berry Farm, Buena Park. An alcohol-free Praise 2000 celebration, with free party favors and T-shirts, live contemporary Christian music, regular attractions and fireworks at midnight. Tickets are $35 in advance; $40 on New Year’s Eve; $32 per person for groups of 15 or more. (800) 422-4444.

* First Night Fullerton. A New Year’s Eve celebration featuring live entertainment, children’s activities and fireworks will begin at 7 p.m. Dec. 31. It will include more than 100 events held around the streets, sidewalks and buildings of downtown Fullerton. (714) 738-5332.

* San Clemente Pier. A free Family Y2K Millennium Celebration at the pier, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., sponsored by the city of San Clemente and Rick’s Tropicana Bar and Grill. Festivities will include game booths, rock climbing and face painting. A New Year’s Eve fireworks display will begin at 6 p.m.

* Cypress Pops Orchestra. An evening of food, dancing and live music in the Millennium 2000 celebration at the Cypress Center, 9031 Grindlay Ave. The Mockingbirds will perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., and a buffet dinner will be served from 7 to 9 p.m. Ticket prices are $80 per person and $150 per couple. * Villa Park Celebration. The city is still planning its party to celebrate the century’s end, including a time capsule and events for children. The main New Year’s Eve party is for adults, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., next to City Hall. $80 a person. (714) 538-0367.

* Heisler Park, Laguna Beach. A New Year’s Eve fireworks show will be held at the Monument Point area of Heisler Park. The Laguna Beach Visitors Bureau and the city are sponsoring the event. The fireworks show begins at midnight. The public is welcome to come to the park any time during the day. (949) 497-0700.

* Newport Dunes Resort, Newport Beach. A fireworks display at midnight at the 100-acre resort on the Back Bay. The show is free, but there is a fee to park. The fireworks will include a “wall of gold” and sweeping comets. Separately, the resort is hosting a Millennium Bash for its RV park guests. (949) 729-3863.

* The Block at Orange. A free, family-oriented New Year’s Eve party at the mall from 5 p.m. to midnight, including rap, salsa and swing bands, jugglers, mimes, stilt-walkers and more. (714) 769-4001.

* Irvine Spectrum Center. A free New Year’s Eve bash including music and entertainment. For a fee, celebrants partake of offerings at the restaurants and the Improv Comedy Club. (949) 789-9180.

* Fantasia 2000. The new Disney IMAX movie will open at midnight Dec. 31, at the Edwards IMAX at the Irvine Spectrum Center. Beginning Jan. 1, the film will show every two hours, starting at 9:30 a.m. with the final show at 11:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $11. Advance ticket sales, (888) 332-4629.
