An Eye in the Sky Over Vegas Strip

Share

Las Vegas visitors can now get a bird’s-eye view of the Strip’s neon jungle aboard a blimp that gives tours. The A-105 airship, booked through Vision Air and operated by the Lightship Group, departs North Las Vegas Airport nightly (weather permitting) and flies over the Strip as far south as the Luxor at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,400 feet, according to sales manager Steve McCloud of the 5-year-old Vision Air, which also runs air and bus tours to the Grand Canyon and other sites. The blimp holds up to nine passengers.

The trips, lasting about 45 minutes, cost $179 per person Mondays through Thursdays and $199 Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. They depart hourly starting at sunset and go as late as 10 p.m., depending on bookings, McCloud said. The first outing each night is a Sunset Champagne Cruise for $229 that includes champagne and a souvenir glass. (Guests get sodas and bottled water on the regular trips.) Prices include transportation between Las Vegas hotels and North Las Vegas Airport. Reservations: tel. (702) 646-2888.
