Three nonprofit groups that each work to improve senior services have formally united to help bring more housing, health care and other programs to Irvine’s elderly.

The Irvine Senior Foundation, Irvine Adult Day Health Services and Irvine Housing Opportunities signed a letter of agreement last month allowing the three groups to pool resources while serving the city’s growing population of citizens older than 55. About 14,000 seniors now reside in Irvine.

“We each specialize in a different area, but we all work to provide better services to seniors,” said Bill Woollett, president of the board of directors for the Irvine Senior Foundation. “Now we have a system in place to determine how seniors should receive services and how to fund those services.”
