They’re Not Going to Bat for Beltre and Boras

Share

Well, If Bud Selig isn’t going to do the right thing about Pete Rose, at least he got it right on the Adrian Beltre situation. Selig’s report points out that Beltre himself stated that his birthday was 1978 on no fewer than five occasions. Now it’s time for Beltre to admit his part in this lie and for Scott Boras to let this issue go.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Beltre is making a much better living on the “unfair” salary the Dodgers are paying him than he would have made doing anything else in his native Dominican Republic. And something tells me, that way back when he was only 15, he was well aware of that.

A friend questioned agent Scott Boras’ loyalty to the game and to tradition.

Loyalty? He’s an agent. He doesn’t give a damn about the great game or about tradition. All he cares about is securing the largest contract possible for his client in any manner possible, period! His percentage is what’s foremost on his mind. What team Beltre plays for doesn’t matter to him, either, as long as the bucks are there.

It does my heart good to see that for once, conniving and greed did not win out. Merry Christmas to all!
