Public meetings will be held Jan. 5 and 6 at 6:30 p.m. to get input from Anaheim residents on proposed changes to the city’s charter. The Jan. 5 meeting will take place at City Council chambers, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.; the Jan. 6 meeting will take place at the Anaheim Hills Community Center, 8201 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road.

The Charter Review Committee has held 12 meetings since April and plans on submitting its final recommendations to the City Council by February.

Recommendations from the committee include provisions to increase the compensation of the mayor from $1,000 to $2,500 per month and compensation of City Council members from $1,000 to $2,000 per month; limit the ability of the Anaheim firefighters to use binding interest arbitration to those disputes recommended by a state mediator; and eliminate the requirement to annually publish the financial report of the city. A copy of the proposed changes can be found at https://www.anaheim.net.
