Signs warning of the water’s high, potentially dangerous bacteria content were removed from Dana Strand beach last week when testing revealed no violations of state water quality standards, an Orange County Health Care Agency official said.
The agency posted warning signs 150 feet on either side of the beach’s entrance on Selva Road last week when samples taken there revealed the water violated state standards for enterococcus bacteria.
Officials retested the beach Christmas Eve and discovered the water was no longer in violation, prompting the agency to lift its restrictions, said Larry Honeybourne, program chief for the county agency’s water quality section.
