The City Council, in a 3-2 vote last week, gave the green light for developer CIM Group to build a 90,000-square-foot retail complex facing Brea Boulevard. Councilmen Steven C. Vargas and Roy Moore voted against the proposal. Moore said he was concerned that parking would not be adequate and that he did not have enough time to study the most recent parking report, which he received just hours before the meeting. He said a shortage of parking would be difficult to correct.

Council members Bev Perry, Marty Simonoff and Lynn Daucher voted in favor of the proposal. Daucher said she was confident the parking would be adequate after examining studies from two independent consultants hired by the city.
