Slaying Suspect’s Arraignment Reset

An arraignment set for a man accused of fatally shooting his former employer before turning the gun on himself was continued Tuesday because suspect Mikhail Khaimchayev remains in the hospital in critical condition.
Khaimchayev, 29, faces a murder charge in the shooting death of Camarillo business owner Sheldon Snyder, 36, on Jan. 13. Khaimchayev was a former computer programmer at Snyder’s company, Postal Innovations. He had been let go several months earlier because, according to other employees, Khaimchayev, a Russian immigrant, had poor English skills and was not proficient on the computer.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Patricia Murphy said the arraignment, during which Khaimchayev will enter a plea to the charge, was rescheduled for Feb. 23. But that, too, could be continued if Khaimchayev is still unable to leave St. Johns Pleasant Valley Hospital.
Authorities say he has remained in critical but stable condition since entering the hospital after shooting himself in the abdomen moments after allegedly firing at Snyder.
