Council Approves $25,000 Reward for Clues in Death
The Los Angeles City Council voted Friday to offer a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those who killed famed boxing manager Howie Steindler 22 years ago in front of his Encino home.
The 1977 homicide was never solved, and the family asked the council to offer a reward in hopes that the investigation can be revived.
Steindler was manager of the Main Street Gym in Los Angeles, where many boxing champions trained. He was attacked as he arrived home from work.
Police believe two men beat and suffocated Steindler and dumped him in the back of his car before driving off in the vehicle, which was later found on the side of the Ventura Freeway in Studio City.
