Companies Should Be Ashamed of ‘Posting’

“Promo Pros: They Post All the Bills They Can” by Soren Baker (Feb. 7) was a clear indication that the corporate trashing of our neighborhoods will not end any time soon. That America’s largest entertainment companies are behind much of the market-driven vandalism called “posting” should not come as a surprise. But what should infuriate everyone is that the people who run DreamWorks and Warner Bros. publicly admit that breaking the law is good for business. It is clear that the studio moguls make business decisions based on their need for profits, and the public’s right to clean streets be damned! The studio heads, their artists and their stockholders should be ashamed.

Elected officials and the courts must do more to put an end to the corporate vandalism. How can you tell a 10-year-old kid that it’s wrong to spray graffiti on a lamppost if Steven Spielberg is reaping millions in profits by doing essentially the same thing? Is Hollywood listening?
