A two-car collision at a major intersection sent four people to the hospital for minor injuries Monday afternoon, Simi Valley police said.

The accident occurred about 1:40 p.m. when a Toyota Camry and a Honda Accord simultaneously entered the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Madera Road on a yellow light.

The Accord, driven by Linda Kerns, 49, was in the southbound turning lane of Madera and began making a left turn onto Los Angeles Avenue. The Camry, driven by Melissa Hughes, 18, was traveling in the opposite direction on Madera.

It appears the Accord’s driver failed to yield before turning into the intersection, according to Officer Brian Chandler.

The two Simi Valley women were taken by ambulance to Simi Valley Hospital, along with Hughes’ passenger, Michael Williams, 19, of Simi Valley, and Kerns’ passenger, Dinetta Luick, 90, of Moorpark. All four complained of pains, and Luick and Williams sustained small cuts.

All but Luick were treated and release Monday. Luick remained overnight in stable condition. The accident delayed traffic briefly in several directions.
