2-Year-Old Boy Runs Into Street in Anaheim, Is Killed by Car

A child was fatally injured Monday after darting into an Anaheim street from between two parked cars and being hit by a third vehicle.

The 2-year-old boy, whose identity was not immediately released pending family notification, was transported to Western Medical Center-Anaheim, where he died.

Officers responded to a call at 4:51 p.m. about an auto-pedestrian accident in the 600 block of North Anaheim Boulevard.

“There was no indication of unsafe speed or other traffic violations,” Police Lt. Kahle Switzer said. The child “stepped right out into the vehicle’s path.”

But police did arrest the driver, Memesio Gonzalez Reyes of Anaheim, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. It is not clear, however, whether that was a contributing factor to the accident, Switzer said.
