The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is trying to locate witnesses to a Feb. 18 fatal traffic collision that occurred on Alicia Parkway east of Kite Hill, near the rear entrance to Laguna Niguel Regional Park. Gerlinde Burghard, 27, of Laguna Niguel, was traveling east on Alicia Parkway when her dark green Jeep Wrangler swerved off the road and crashed into a eucalyptus tree. Burghard was thrown from the vehicle and died of massive head trauma, according to a spokesman at the Orange County coroner’s office. Sheriff’s deputies are hoping witnesses will come forward to help shed light on the cause of the accident. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Bureau: (949) 425-1860.
