Hebert Returns, but Doesn’t Start

Goaltender Guy Hebert rejoined the Ducks after spending the last few days with his father, who had taken ill at the family’s home in Troy, N.Y. It was nothing serious, but Hebert believed he should be at his father’s side.

“I felt it was important to get home for moral support,” said Hebert, who received permission from Coach Craig Hartsburg to miss practice Monday and Tuesday. “We talked about hockey, so I knew everything was going to be all right with my father.”

Upon returning to the team late Tuesday night, Hebert learned he would not start Wednesday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers.

“The last little while has been a tough stretch,” Hebert said of starting seven games in 11 nights recently. “It’s a nice little break, although I probably could have played [Wednesday against the Oilers]. I went home and just assumed I would be playing.”
