Glamour Is in the Details

If you were able to take your eyes off the shimmery silver and purple gown Gloria Estefan wore to hand out Grammy awards Wednesday night, you might have caught a glimpse of the perfectly matched little purse she carried to tote her lipstick and credentials.

It was the little accessory’s national TV debut, and its Los Angeles designer, Sandra Leal, wasn’t the only one applauding. The reversible, hand-stitched bags and backpacks are getting rave notices from celeb buyers for their interesting mixes of texture and color. Every bag is unique, says Leal, a former model and fashion editor.

A look-at-me fuchsia Shantung purse reverses to a prim and proper black pleated polyester; a dark denim backpack sheds its cocoon to reveal a butterfly tapestry. All the bags have elegant but sturdy cording to adjust the bags to fit wearers of any height. They cost $48 to $158.
