Capistrano Valley Works Overtime for Nike Victory

Capistrano Valley rallied from a seven-point fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime before defeating Charlotte (N.C.) Christian, 70-63, Thursday in the third-place game of the American Division in the Nike National Prep Classic at San Diego State.

J.J. Sola scored 18 of his 28 points after halftime and Nate Hair scored six of his 15 points in overtime to lead the Cougars (13-2).

Ollie Sturtson scored 16 points for Charlotte Christian.

In other Nike tournament games:

Ocean View 77, San Jose Bishop O’Dowd 61--Senior point guard Tony Dow had 20 points and 12 assists to lead the Seahawks in the consolation final. Wes Bacchus and Casey Lawson each scored 14 points for Ocean View, which trailed by five points at halftime.

Villa Park 66, Long Island (N.Y.) St. Dominic’s 61--Tom Stankan scored 14 points for Villa Park (9-6) in a consolation game.

In the Canyon tournament:

Canyon 55, Marina 41--All-tournament selection Neil Hammad scored 14 points for Canyon in the third-place game. Jeff Hung scored 13 points for Marina.

Mission Viejo 60, Downey 57--All-tournament selection Francis Ireifej scored 14 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter of the fifth-place game for Mission Viejo (8-7), which trailed by seven points after three quarters.

Loara 59, Santa Ana 42--All-tournament guard Herbert Gracia scored eight of his 22 points in the third quarter when Loara opened a 21-point lead in the consolation final. Gracia also had six assists for Loara (13-2).

Buena Park 59, El Monte 38--Senior center Matt Okoro had 30 points and 20 rebounds for Buena Park (11-4) in a consolation game.

Saddleback 53, Costa Mesa 34--Terrell Foster scored 15 of his 22 points to help the Roadrunners to a 13-point halftime lead they never relinquished.

In the Marin Catholic tournament:

Servite 61, San Francisco Lincoln 36--Billy Hamilton had 10 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds and teammate Andrew Moore earned all-tournament honors for Servite (8-7), which won the consolation final.

In the Orangewood Academy tournament:

Escondido Adventist 52, Heritage Christian 43--Sophomore Brandon Newte had 15 points and nine assists and Todd Warner scored 15 points for Heritage Christian (5-7) in the third-place game.

In the Ontario Christian tournament:

Capistrano Valley Christian 70, Arrowhead Christian 42--Senior forward Ryan Allen had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles (6-6) in a consolation game.
