DMX Hits It Big, but Not Locally

Share

DMX’s new album entered the national charts at No. 1 this week, but the rapper couldn’t break through top-ranked Jewel and a logjam of long-term residents on the Southern California chart, where it debuted at No. 7. The other strong showing was from the Offspring’s “Americana,” which climbed to No. 2, fueled by the radio play of “Why Don’t You Get a Job?” On the singles chart, the Spice Girls remained No. 1 in the region, while Brandy made a splashy debut with “Have You Ever.”
