Winkler’s Message to Moviegoers

Share

Re: “He Works to Create Happy Days for Kids” by Henry Winkler, Nov. 17:

Dear Mr. Winkler: My attention was riveted by the paragraph in which you stated: “We knew there was no better way to reach and motivate the public to work on behalf of children than through television and the movie theaters.” So what happened?! You were in that movie “The Waterboy.” As a stunned parent I can only assume you were duped into making such a movie geared for children and young adults. I could go on ranting about my shock and dismay at finding you associated with something so crass and morally bankrupt, but really, after reading your article, I am confused. [You participated in] making such utter garbage for our children. I think you should take a better look at how you can “reach and motivate the public.”

Hi. I’m Del’s kid. I really liked the movie “The Waterboy.” But I don’t think you should put so many bad words in it because it’s a bad influence for kids.
