I Dined Off Andy Warhol
If you’re looking for the perfect bowl for that perfect soup, Block Pop has just released a line of Andy Warhol “Campbell’s Soup Can” dishes.
About as wide as a dinner plate, the bowl has a one-inch rim and a picture, smack dab in the center, of the artist’s rendering of the classic soup container.
“Presentation-wise, you can do more with a broad bowl,” says Gina DeCew Donald, executive chef at Spago, a restaurant that uses wide, flat soup dishes. “It’s a better display mechanism. It looks better on the table.”
Might we suggest a matching tomato consomme? Or perhaps a clear broth, so you can see straight through to the bottom?
Available at Raintree, 2711 Main St., Santa Monica, (310) 392-7731, and Wacko, 4633 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90027, (323) 663-0122.
