Pioneering Chef Steve Dies at 47

Steve Singer, who worked at several landmark Los Angeles restaurants in the 1980s, died Jan. 1. Singer, 47, worked for Ken Frank at La Toque, helped Wolfgang Puck open the first Spago and was the opening chef at Pasadena’s Parkway Grill. In 1987, he left Los Angeles to become chef at the Dallas Crescent Court Hotel’s complex of restaurants. He then worked at the Fuzzi restaurant chain.
