Anaheim Public Works Director and City Engineer Gary E. Johnson has been recognized as a “Top Leader of the Year” by the Southern California chapter of the American Public Works Assn. Johnson, who has spent 28 years in municipal public works, will be entered in the association’s national recognition program.

In 1984, Johnson joined Anaheim’s public works and has since been involved in such projects as the building of the Arrowhead Pond and the remodeling of the city’s stadium. He is now overseeing the convention center expansion and the conversion of the resort area into a more pedestrian-friendly destination.
