The school district will hold its “Astounding Inventions” contest Thursday for kindergarten through eighth-grade pupils. More than 100 science projects will be on display from 7 to 9 p.m. in the C.E. Utt Middle School multipurpose room, 13601 Browning Ave. The public is welcome to check them out.

Projects will be judged on presentation, originality, research, usefulness, illustration and written description. The invention fair prepares students for the “Astounding Inventions of the Future” competition at Irvine Valley College on Jan. 23. Last year, one of the district’s winners, then 7-year-old James Kim, appeared on “The Tonight Show.” Information: (714) 730-7301, Ext. 380.
