$5,000 Reward Offered in Vandalism

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors announced Tuesday a $5,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of whoever vandalized a car and painted it with racial slurs in Lancaster on Christmas.

Vandals slashed the tires and broke the windows of the car, parked by an African American man outside a bowling alley, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies said.

Supervisor Mike Antonovich said in a statement that the man had borrowed the car from his sister, “who cannot afford to have it repaired or explain the ugliness of the crime to her four children.”

On Antonovich’s motion, the board also directed the county’s Human Relations Commission to investigate the incident.
